Happy Anniversary to “The Osiris Initiative!”

My Second Thriller Turns One Year Old…

I released “The Osiris Initiative,” my second thriller, one year ago. This book continued the adventures of Xavier Greene, Stacy Martinez, and Bill Logan that began in “Tears of the Dragon.” By the time I released the first book, I had spent years messing with it. I knew one book every six years was not a winning formula for being a modern author. But since I had written only one book, I had to wonder, could I write a novel in a decent amount of time? Was the first book a fluke? Would Imposter Syndrome kick my ass? Well, about a month after Tears of the Dragon came out, I sat down to find out.

In many ways, this book ended up being the one that would convince me that I could be an author. When I finished “Tears of the Dragon,” I had no idea where I wanted the story to go. In fact, originally, I envisioned it as being a one-off story. But, as I learned more about the business side of being an author, I learned that it would be to my advantage to flesh that story out and continue to move it forward, so I did.

After several weeks of throwing ideas at the drawing board, a storyline began to develop. As I continued whittling away at the ideas that would shape the plot of Osiris, I had an epiphany. While working on the book’s antagonist, James Devos, I saw a commercial starring Jeff Goldblum.  Suddenly, I was grasped by the vision of Devos being a sort of evil Jeff Goldblum. Once that idea took hold, the character came to life. The sheer inspiration of that character powered my inspiration, and the rest of the story flowed out with ease. Three months later, I was ready to send it off to the editor, and the rest is history. In many ways, “The Osiris Initiative” is the book that proved to me that I could be an author. So Happy Anniversary to “The Osiris Initiative!” You taught me a lot about myself, and I’m forever grateful!
